It’s often useful when training new interviewers to have them complete a series of interviews as a shadow or a lead (reverse shadow). Gem Scheduling facilitates this using training programs, which allow you to define the phases of programs (e.g. Shadow, Reverse Shadow, etc.) and how many interviews it takes to complete each phase, and pick interview eligibilities that interviewers should receive after completing each program.
For a video walkthrough of how to create, configure and use training programs, watch Gem Scheduling How-to: Training Programs.
Creating a training program
You can see all of your existing training programs on the Training Programs page in Gem Scheduling:

From here you can create a new training program by selecting the + Add training program button.
First, pick an interview eligibility that you would like interviewers to receive when they graduate. You can either select an interview eligibility that already exists (but isn’t in use with another training program), or create a brand new one.

Select the Create training program button to move to the next step, in which you can define the phases of your training program and how many interviews it takes to complete each phase. The Shadow phase will be the default for all new training programs, but you can add additional phases by selecting + Add new phase towards the bottom of the screen.
You don’t need to save the training program at this point - any changes you make here, such as adding/amending/removing phases, are automatically saved.
Any interviewers who already have that interview eligibility will show up as graduates under the Interviewers tab.
Adding trainees to a training program
Now that you’ve created a training program, you probably want to start getting some interviewers trained.
From the Training Program page
Select the training program you want to edit. The Interviewers tab will be the default view - select the + Add interviewer button in the upper right corner of the page to start adding a new interviewer.
A pop-up will appear where you can select the new interviewer and set their Status. You can use the interviewer field to filter by name or email address to find the correct person.
You’ll notice that you cannot select an interviewer who is already a trainee or graduate of this program.
The Status dropdown defaults to Trainee. If the interviewer already has some training progress that has been completed outside of Gem Scheduling, however, you can select Graduate instead.
You can add as many interviewers as you want here. When you’re done, select Add interviewer and all of the selected interviewers will be added to the training program.
You can now see the training paths of all interviewers in this program from its Interviewers tab.
From the Interviewers page
When an interviewer is a trainee for a training program, we automatically add a Trainee interview eligibility to them.
Therefore, you can also add trainees to training programs in bulk on the Interviewers page, by picking the Trainee tag for the program’s associated interview eligibility.
If you’re not familiar with this page, learn more about tags and eligibilities here.
