Overview
With Gem, you can send email sequences on behalf of (SOBO) a teammate — a feature that’s been shown to boost response rates by up to 2x.
When sending on behalf of a teammate, you’ll set up the message templates and schedule, but the emails will be sent directly from your teammate’s inbox. Any prospective candidate replies will then land in your teammate’s inbox, allowing them to continue the conversation. On your part, you’ll still be able to monitor the sequence’s progress, receive notifications when a candidate replies, and track its performance on your Outreach Stats page.
Note: If you prefer to manage the correspondence yourself after a candidate replies, using a Gmail Alias or creating a separate email account that impersonates your teammate might be a better option.
Sending on behalf of a teammate
You’ll need to enable SOBO individually for each teammate you’d like to send emails on behalf of. To do this:
- Navigate to Sender Settings in your Gem profile settings (select your profile name in the bottom-left corner of your Gem instance, then select Profile settings, and scroll down within General to Sender Settings).
- Under Sender Settings, select the + Add Account button.
- Enter your teammate’s email address in the pop-up and select Send request.
- Your teammate will receive a confirmation request, which they must approve before you can send messages on their behalf.
- Once approved, the status of the email address will be updated to Authorized in your Sender Settings, enabling you to select it when creating or modifying sequences.
Allowing a teammate to send messages on your behalf
Your teammate must follow the steps above to request permission to send on your behalf. Upon receiving the request, you’ll have two ways to authorize it:
- Go to your Gem profile settings page, scroll down to Sender Settings and select the Authorize button beside your email address.
- Select the Review request button in the email sent to you, then select Grant Access.
If you wish to revoke their access so that they can no longer send messages on your behalf, you can do so at any time from your Gem profile settings page.
