Scorecards enable interviewers to share clear, structured feedback by assessing candidates against key competencies defined for a role. This helps hiring teams make fair, consistent, and informed decisions while maintaining a high-quality interview process.
Note: This article covers how to complete a scorecard after an interview has been completed. For more information about scheduling and completing interviews, see Gem Scheduling: Schedule an interview.
Requirements
- Your team must use Gem ATS.
Access and complete a scorecard
When an interview is scheduled, each interviewer is automatically assigned a scorecard in Gem.
You can access a scorecard assigned to you from the My Interviews page, the Application details page, or from the email sent prompting you to complete your scorecard after an interview is complete. This email is sent one hour after the scheduled interview time.
To access a scorecard from the My Interviews page, select the Fill out scorecard button next to the scorecard.
The sections and questions displayed in a scorecard vary depending on the scorecard template that was added to the interview in the job details. For more information on how to create and manage scorecard templates, see Gem ATS: Configure scorecard templates.
By default, every scorecard includes the following fields. Select each field to add or update it.
- Overall rating: This option reflects your final recommendation for the candidate. The options vary based on your Admin scorecard settings.
- Overall recommendation: This field allows you to provide written feedback about the candidate.
- Private notes: You may optionally add private notes about this candidate. These notes are only visible to you, the hiring team for this job, and your Gem Admins.
After you've completed both fields, select the Submit scorecard button. Only Hiring Managers and Recruiters for this job can view completed scorecards for candidates hired for that job.
Note: If needed, Hiring Managers and Coordinators can submit scorecards on behalf of other Gem users.
Generate an AI scorecard summary
If at least one interviewer has completed a scorecard for a candidate, you can generate an AI-powered scorecard summary. This summary aggregates all available scorecards and presents an overview of the candidate’s performance, including citations and links to relevant interview feedback. This allows you to get a sense of how a candidate has performed at a glance, which helps guide debrief discussions.
Note: Only Admins and custom roles with the View scorecard permission can generate scorecard summaries.
To generate an AI scorecard summary, select the Generate summary button from the Scorecards section of a candidate’s record.
This creates a new section titled Scorecard summary by Gem AI. This section includes the date that the scorecard was generated. The summary is organized into Strengths, Areas of concern and Contradictions, with links to citations where applicable.
Select the Regenerate summary button to regenerate this summary at any time. For example, if additional scorecards are submitted or existing scorecards are updated.
