These features are available to all Gem customers:
- Sequence Template Generation: Generates customizable email templates and personalization tokens to assist recruiters with outreach messaging, while maintaining full recruiter control over final message content.
- AI Custom Token in Sequences: Helps recruiters further personalize their outreach and save time by automatically suggesting a relevant sentence based on the prospect/candidate profile.
- AI Company Descriptions: Automatically generates company overviews (including business focus, size, and industry) that appear when users hover over company names in candidate profiles, helping recruiters quickly understand a candidate’s background without leaving the platform.
- AI Skill Suggestion for Application Review: Suggests keywords to search on applications based on the ATS job description.
- AI Scorecard Summaries: Automatically summarizes detailed interview notes across interviewers for a specific Job.
- AI Prospect Search: Helps craft search queries based on your job description to find existing talent in your Gem CRM and integrated ATS.

AI Sourcing
Gem AI Sourcing helps recruiters find qualified talent 2x faster by scanning 800M+ public profiles for the best matches based on your criteria.
You can define qualifications in your own words and quickly fine-tune them with intuitive filters, easy-to-use presets, and AI suggestions. In minutes, you can kick off a search that delivers a steady stream of top matches.
When the top prospects are returned, you’re able to see rich context about your past activity with them, so you have a complete understanding of any relationship history. Your top prospects will also include net new prospects you’ve never interacted with.
Gem also enriches every profile with verified email addresses.
When reviewing individual prospects, Gem provides transparency into every recommendation with in-depth AI match score summaries. You have full control to adjust or fine-tune your search as needed.

AI-powered App Review
Gem’s AI-powered App Review is an add-on within Gem’s standard Application Review product that helps recruiters find top applicants faster using AI inbound ranking.
When enabled, Gem AI can consistently rank thousands of applications based on the criteria you input, then instantly surface the best matches to the top of your stack. To help you make decisions faster, Gem also explains exactly how each candidate matched, giving you full control to verify and adjust your search at any time.
This feature is currently available to all of our customers using Gem ATS, as well as any ATS that’s compatible with Gem’s standard Application Review product (Greenhouse, Workday, Successfactors, iCIMS).

Complimentary AI Features Overview
Sequence Template Generation
One of the biggest pain points around getting started with Gem, especially for newer recruiters or hiring managers, is facing the blank text box where you compose your outreach. Gem’s AI sequence template generation feature tackles this head on, enabling recruiters and hiring managers to generate first drafts of candidate outreach.
To get started:
- Click “New” on the Gem homepage.
- Select “Sequence”.
- Above the editor for the first stage, click “Try Now” in the box labeled “Create a sequence template with Gem AI.”
- The questionnaire pictured below will appear. Fill it in, hit “Generate” , and you’ll get an outreach template generated by AI that you can edit to make your own!
What data is sent to our sub-processors?
Currently, this feature sends the text you type into the “Create a sequence template with Gem AI” box to our subprocessors.
AI Custom Token in Sequences
Gem’s AI Custom Token in Sequences helps recruiters further personalize their outreach and save time by automatically suggesting a relevant sentence based on the prospect/candidate profile.
For example, rather than creating a unique sentence from scratch for every individual on your list, you could ask Gem AI → {{gem_ai: Write a sentence personalized to this candidate.}}.
The message generated will be personalized based on their profile: Nick, I am impressed with your experience and accomplishments, especially as the founder of Gem. Your expertise in the industry would make you a valuable addition to our team.
To get started:
- Open “Sequences”
- Click “{{gem_ai}}” token and type custom prompt
- Hit generate and different results will be created for each recipient
- Review each result (edit to make your own if needed) and send
Note: This feature is only available for sequences with a maximum of 500 recipients. You will need to review each recipient ahead of sending or you will receive an error message.
What data is sent to our sub-processors?
Currently, this feature sends the email text, prompttext, and candidate information including title and company as well as resume to our subprocessors.
AI Company Descriptions
Gem’s AI company summaries give you instant information on the organizations listed in the candidate’s profile. This includes funding stage tags that indicate when the candidate joined their companies, such as “Joined at Series C” or “Joined at Seed.” When viewing a profile in Gem, simply hover over each organization’s name to get broader context about each company, including funding stage, product mix, business model, and company maturity.
AI Skill Suggestion for Application Review
Reviewing inbound applications is one of the most painstaking challenges for talent acquisition teams. Large volumes of unqualified applicants make it difficult to find those that meet the criteria and risk the chance that great candidates get overlooked. These hours spent scanning resumes distract recruiters from focusing on building relationships with top candidates, leading to costly delays and missed opportunities.
Gem’s AI Skill Suggestions helps recruiters find qualified candidates faster, by identifying relevant skills and keywords to find on candidate’s resumes. Gem’s AI automatically suggested relevant keywords from the job description set in your ATS and can recommend additional suggestions based upon skills you’ve already entered.
To get started:
- Open Talent Pipeline.
- Click “Start Reviews”.
- Select the Keywords filter and you’ll instantly see recommendations!
After you’ve entered keywords, you can generate more recommendations be clicking the “Refine keywords” button and Gem will suggest more keywords that are similar to what you’ve entered. This enables you to identify a more exhaustive pool of potentially qualified candidates.
What data is sent to our sub-processors?
This feature sends the job description, job name, and any keywords you’ve already added to the keyword filter to our subprocessors.
AI Scorecard Summaries
When reviewing scorecards submitted in Gem ATS, you can use Gem AI to instantly summarize detailed interview notes across the interview team. Get started by navigating to the Scorecards tab on any application.
- Get a comprehensive summary of a candidate’s performance across all interview feedback.
- Save time during debrief sessions by having key points already summarized and ready for discussion.
- Access historical context easily with all feedback stored directly in candidate profiles for future reference.
- The AI Scorecard Summaries will automatically update for your team any time there is a change to the scorecards.

Currently, this feature sends the job title and scorecard text to our subprocessors.
AI Prospect Search
Searching for qualified prospects to source for a job takes time. Recruiters often need to reference their job description, translating requirements and preferences into search filters or boolean searches using multiple applications or websites.
Gem’s AI Prospect Search assists customers in generating search queries in Prospect Search, a top-of-funnel solution that focuses on searching prospects your team has added to Gem. This allows your team to be in the driver’s seat of proactively adding great candidates for hire to your pipelines. Recruiters can further refine the results, for example, looking at those who have never applied to your company before or those who have had past communication to send outbound communication using sequences or organizing talent pools into projects. Simply select a job or enter a job description to get started! Gem’s AI will automatically identify relevant skills and job titles that are on the candidate’s profile, including their resumes.
