Getting SetUp - Simple Steps
- Navigate to myaccount.google.com/security.
- Navigate to Security tab on the left side column
- Click on 2FA verification
- Enter your gem.com google password and insert Yubikey into your computer’s usb-c port
- Select the option to “add security key”
- Follow on screen instructions to complete the setup.
- Join #proj-yubikey for any feedback/questions.

Authenticating into an iOS device
Slightly different authentication prompt.
After entering your password place the Yubikey towards the top/back of your iPhone to complete the NFC authentication.
Logging in via MacOS and Windows Devices:
- Navigate to gmail.com in Google Chrome.
- Enter Gem Username + Password
- Insert Yubikey into your computer’s USB-C port and make contact with the key (using your finger) to complete the authentication.

Getting Setup using Android
- Ensure your device is up to date on Android 8.0 or later.
- Launch Google Chrome
- Navigate to “Enroll this security key”

Fixing common problems with NFC
Make sure to:
- Turn on NFC on your device
- Add the key to your account
- Remove anything that might be blocking the NFC signal, like a case or sticker
- Update your device to the latest version of Google Play Services
- Try restarting your device
- Try turning NFC off and on again
