(Internal) Setting up your Yubico - Yubikey

Getting SetUp - Simple Steps

1. Navigate to myaccount.google.com/security.
2. Navigate to Security tab on the left side column
3. Click on 2FA verification
4. Enter your gem.com google password and insert Yubikey into your computer’s usb-c port
5. Select the option to “add security key”
6. Follow on screen instructions to complete the setup.
7. Join #proj-yubikey for any feedback/questions.

Authenticating into an iOS device

Slightly different authentication prompt.

After entering your password place the Yubikey towards the top/back of your iPhone to complete the NFC authentication.

Logging in via MacOS and Windows Devices:

1. Navigate to gmail.com in Google Chrome.
2. Enter Gem Username + Password
3. Insert Yubikey into your computer’s USB-C port and make contact with the key (using your finger) to complete the authentication.

Getting Setup using Android

1. Ensure your device is up to date on Android 8.0 or later.
2. Launch Google Chrome
3. Navigate to “Enroll this security key”

Fixing common problems with NFC

Make sure to:

• Turn on NFC on your device
• Add the key to your account
• Remove anything that might be blocking the NFC signal, like a case or sticker
• Update your device to the latest version of Google Play Services
• Try restarting your device
• Try turning NFC off and on again
