- Gem Custom Fields
Gem’s custom fields enable users to track, record, and report on a unique prospect or project data about Gem prospects so they can glean additional insights on their recruiting pipelines. They are specific to a candidate. The value follows the candidate around across projects and is searchable in Prospect Search (as long as it’s not a freeform text field).
Project vs. Prospect Custom Fields
Project field
This refers to the categorization of a project (think: Department).
Project custom field
Gem allows users to create custom fields at the project level so that they can track project-specific information (like the quality of profile or hiring manager feedback). Only prospects in the project will be able to have these project custom fields available. This categorization does NOT follow the prospect to the next project, is NOT searchable in Prospect Search, and is currently NOT reportable or searchable in Gem.
These are specific to a project and isolated to that project. Example: one of our customers will use a “Superstar” Project custom field where a candidate may be a superstar candidate for a specific job but not for another job. This is also the field we use if the customer starts leveraging forms.
Creation instructions and usage instructions can be found in the customer-facing resource linked above.
Prospect custom field
Gem allows users to create custom fields on the prospect profile to track data that is not a part of Gem’s standard prospect profile (name, work & school experience, contact info).
Creation instructions, usage instructions, and how to search and report on prospect custom fields can be found in the customer-facing resource linked above.
Types of custom fields
There are four different types of custom fields:
Type | Description | Reportable? | Searchable? |
Single-select | Picklist where only one value is chosen | Yes | Yes |
Multi-select | Picklist where multiple values are chosen | Yes | Yes |
Freeform | Field to write a block of text. | No | No |
Date | Can select the date something occurred. | No | Yes |
