When a team creates a public job posting, Gem is automatically also submitting that posting to Google for inclusion in the search index via the jobs.google.com flow that they have set up for this purpose. This is something we do automatically and at no cost to help increase the visibility of our customers’ job postings.
If a customer has problems finding their job in Google search results, whether they know about our submitting the job on their behalf or not, you can ask them to search Google for the job specifically using the following advanced search query:
site:jobs.gem.com/<your_job_board_id>/<job_post_id>In most scenarios, they will find their job on that results page. However, just because Google has indexed that job posting does not mean that Google will show the listing if someone does a normal search for a relevant query e.g. searching “design manager Roblox” might still not return the job listing. The published reason that Google has listed for this is:
The Google algorithm tailors search results to create what it thinks is the best search experience for a user, depending on many variables, including search history, location, and device type. In some cases it may determine that one feature is more appropriate than another, or even that a text result is best.
You can share this with customers, and highlight that there is nothing we can do about this as it is entirely up to the Google search algorithm.
If the customer does not find their job listing when using the advanced search query above, please let the Support team know so they can work with Engineering to investigate further.
