To integrate with Slack, you'll need to install the Gem Scheduling application into your company's Slack workspace. With this installed, you can automatically create Slack channels for interviewers each time an interview is scheduled.
Installing the application
Installing the Slack app is fairly straightforward. You just need to to the General setup tab within your Scheduling admin page, then go to the Internal messaging channel section and select the Connect to Slack button to start the process.
From here, you'll be able to make sure that you select the correct Slack workspace from the top-right corner. Don't worry about the banner at the top saying that this app isn't approved by Slack; this is the official Slack app made by Gem Scheduling.
Once you’ve confirmed it’s your company’s workspace, you can select the Allow button. This will complete the process and take you back to Gem Scheduling.
Options
With that done, you can now set up the defaults for your hiring channels.
The Hiring channel name allows you to set naming convention for Slack channels. In the example above we've included the tokens for the candidate's full name and the name of the job, so that each new channel is given a name as specific to the candidate and job as possible.
You can also set some options for what happens if interviewers are removed from the panel, and what happens when an interview is over.
And that's it! From now on, you'll have the option to create hiring channels after scheduling specific stages.
Note: The admin for your Slack instance may have blocked users from adding apps to your Slack instance. If you are unable to add the Gem Scheduling Slack app, please contact your Slack admin.
