Once Installing the Chrome Extension, the Gem extension can open on top of any website you visit if you click on the Gem icon in your Google Chrome toolbar. This document outlines how you can use Gem on all and sourcing websites we’ve found popular amongst our customer base.
All Websites (Manual Entry)
From any webpage:
- Click the Gem Chrome extension in the upper-right corner of your Chrome window to open the extension.
- Click “Add Candidate.”
- Manually create a new Gem profile for them. (This requires you to enter the first name, last name, email address, etc.)
a16z Talentplace
a16z Talentplace works with the Gem extension but does not automatically pull data.
AmazingHiring
Adding profiles from AmazingHire automatically pulls (when available):
- Name
- Location
- Education
- Work history
AngelList
Adding profiles from AngelList automatically pulls (when available):
- Name
- Company
- Title
- Location
- Pronouns
- School
- Education
- Work history
ArtStation
Adding profiles from ArtStation automatically pulls (when available)*:

- Email (if exposed by the Gem user by clicking ‘reveal email’)

- You must be in the “about” section of the profile.
Behance
Adding profiles from Behance automatically pulls (when available):

Adding profiles from ClearanceJobs automatically pulls (when available):

Doximity works with the Gem extension but does not automatically pull data.
Dribbble
Dribbble works with the Gem extension but does not automatically pull data.
EJobs
Adding profiles from EJobs automatically pulls (when available):

GitHub
While on a GitHub profile page:
- By default, the Gem extension will open automatically when you are viewing a candidate’s GitHub profile. If it does not, click the Gem Chrome extension in the upper-right corner of your Chrome window to open the extension.
- Gem will use the URL of the GitHub profile page that you’re on to search for any matches/duplicates that already exist in Gem. If one is found, their details will populate in the extension. If there are multiple possible matches, we’ll show you a list of them to click into and view more details.
- If the candidate does not exist in Gem yet, click “Add Candidate.” Gem will automatically create a Gem profile for them and parse fields on the GitHub page (name, email address, company, etc.) to fill in these fields for you within the Gem extension.
Handshake
Adding profiles from Handshake automatically pulls (when available):

Hired.com
Adding profiles from Hired.com automatically pulls (when available):
- Name
- Profiles (github, personal website)
- Location
- Education
- Work history
HireEZ
HireEZ does not work with the Gem extension but adding profiles from HireEZ automatically pulls (when available):
- Name
- Phone number
Indeed
Detailed steps can be found in Sourcing with Gem on Indeed, but in summary:
- On Indeed Resumes, click the Gem icon in the upper right of your Chrome window (where all your extensions live) — you’ll have to do this the first time you source from Indeed to make the minimized Gem extension pop out from the right.
- Message candidate on Indeed. As soon as you message a person on Indeed, Gem will automatically add that person to Gem with the following information:
- First name
- Last name
- Most recent company + title (and all historical work experience, when possible)
- Education history (most recent + historical, when possible)
- Indeed profile URL is added as a social link on the Gem profile
- PDF resume
- After a candidate replies “Confirm interest” in Indeed, you will get an email notification saying “[name] saw your message and is interested in the position” with a link to view their profile in Indeed, including their contact info (email and phone number).

JobsDB
Adding profiles from JobsDB automatically pulls (when available):

JobStreet
Adding profiles from JobStreet automatically pulls (when available):

Detailed steps can be found in Adding a Candidate to Gem from Sourcing Sites, but in summary:
- By default, the Gem extension will open automatically when viewing a candidate’s LinkedIn Public, Recruiter, or Recruiter Lite profile. If it does not, click the Gem Chrome extension in the upper-right corner of your Chrome window to open the extension.
- Follow these steps and save the candidate’s profile as a PDF.
- Gem will create a profile for the candidate and parse the PDF for their details (name, title, company, etc.) This information will automatically be added to their profile in the Gem extension.

- Click the Gem Chrome extension in the upper-right corner of your Chrome window to open the extension.
- While viewing the candidate’s profile, click “Add Prospect” in the Gem extension.
OCC Mundial
Adding profiles from OCC Mundial automatically pulls (when available):
- Name
- Phone number
Piazza
Adding profiles from Piazza automatically pulls (when available):
- Name
- Social profiles (including LinkedIn if available)
- Current title
- Current company
- School
- Education history
- Work history
Read.cv
Adding profiles from Read.cv automatically pulls (when available):
- Name
SeekOut
While on a SeekOut project page or viewing search results:
- Click the Gem Chrome extension in the upper-right corner of your Chrome window to open the extension.
- If you use SeekOut “Contact Credits” to find emails and phone numbers, you need to press the “Get Email” and/or “Get Phone” buttons in SeekOut before adding the candidate to Gem if you wish for this information to be imported. (If you do not do this, Gem will use the candidate’s LinkedIn URL to find their email address using Gem’s data providers.)
- Click “Add to Gem” next to the name of the candidate. This will use a SeekOut “Export Credit.”
- Gem will create a profile for the candidate, and their details (name, email, company, etc.) will automatically be added to the Gem extension.
Stack Overflow
Adding profiles from Stack Overflow automatically pulls (when available):
- Name
- Location
- Profile URLs
Vagas
Vagas works with the Gem extension but does not automatically pull data.
Work at a Startup
Work at a Startup works with the Gem extension but does not automatically pull data.
X
