If your sidebar is not loading correctly, or you find that integration with your email client or ATS is not functioning correctly, it’s possible that third-party cookies are not enabled or have been disabled. Some symptoms that could suggest you should check your cookie settings are:
- The Gem extension says “Gem needs cookie access”
- The Gem extension keeps asking you to sign in
- The Gem extension isn’t connecting to your ATS
In order to take full advantage of Gem, including integration with ATSes, and email, your browser should be set to allow third-party cookies. Don’t worry, it’s easy to check if you have this enabled.
Allowing third-party cookies by default
You can allow third-party cookies by default.
- On your computer, open Chrome
- At the top right, click More → Settings
- Click Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Select an option: Allow third-party cookies
- Make sure that “Allow sites to save and read cookie data” is ON
- Make sure that “Block third-party cookies” is OFF
- If this doesn’t resolve your issue, the next step would be to clear out your Clearing Your Cache
