Gem ATS: Sterling Integration

Overview

The Sterling integration allows you to initiate and view Sterling background checks without leaving Gem.

Requirements

• Your team uses Gem ATS.

Setting up your Sterling integration

1. Request API credentials from Sterling. See https://apidocs.sterlingcheck.app/ under “Getting Started” for details.
2. Once you have the API credentials, navigate to your Gem Settings > Integrations.
3. Toggle on the Sterling integration, enter your credentials, and click Save credentials.

Please note : Sterling has four separate “screening regions”. To use the integration, credentials for at least one region must be provided, but you may use up to all four of these regions.

Initiating and viewing Sterling background checks

1. To initiate a background check, navigate to a candidate’s Gem ATS profile and click on theBackground Check tab.
2. Click Initiate background check , fill out the required information, and click Submit.
3. Once initiated, you’ll see “Background check initiated”.

You’ll be able to view the background check status on this same page. If a candidate does not pass their background check, limited information is displayed directly inside Gem ATS. For full details, you will need to visit the Sterling dashboard.
