Overview
With this CoderPad integration, you can incorporate CoderPad assessment stages to your job interview plans in Gem ATS, allowing you to use it as an assessment tool for candidates during the interview process.
Eligibility
Your team needs to have:
- Gem as your ATS
- CoderPad
How to set up the integration
- We recommend that you create a new dedicated CoderPad user, like “Gem Admin” prior to enabling the integration. Each API key generated by CoderPad is unique to that user account, and using the same API key on multiple services may break your CoderPad integration with Gem.
- Give the new user admin permissions on your CoderPad account
- Navigate to your CoderPad integrations page and copy the API Integration key available there.
- As a Gem admin, navigate to your ATS integrations page and click the CoderPad module.
- Paste the API key you copied from your CoderPad account into the API key field, then click the ‘Save & close’.
- You should get a bottom-corner pop-up saying the key was saved successfully.
Note: This API key is different from the one used to connect to Scheduling. Please make sure you are copying the correct API key.
How to use the integration
You can now add a CoderPad assessment stage to any interview plan. From within the interview plan, click the arrow next to ‘Add a new stage’ and select CoderPad assessment.
The new stage will now populate in your interview plan. Select a campaign for that stage, designating which of the assessments you have created in CoderPad should be used for this interview.
Scheduling
When a candidate has advanced to a CoderPad enabled assessment stage in your interview plan, their status in your Scheduling Queue will change to ‘Assessment needs sending’. You should open their application and click the ‘Send assessment’ button.
You will receive a pop-up where you can confirm the CoderPad campaign that is being sent to the candidate. Confirm the campaign to automatically send the assessment to the candidate.
Once the candidate has completed the assessment, their status will change to ‘Assessment needs Review’ and the candidate’s test score will be displayed on their application within Gem ATS. There will also be a link to the CoderPad test results so you can do a more detailed review of their assessment performance before you make a decision on whether to advance the candidate to the next stage or not.
Current limitations
- For now, only one assessment item can be configured per stage in Interview Plan. This means that if two different assessments need to be configured, there would need to be 2 separate CoderPad assessment stages.
- If you decide to allow ‘second-chance’ tests within CoderPad, where a candidate can request a second attempt at the test after submitting their result to re-take the test, Gem will not be able to track their completion status for that second attempt.
